Void Boarman Captains are the void versions of regular Boarman Captains that spawn during Nights of the Void, which occur once every four days in a Survival map. They possess a distinct and more purplish look, from their hair to their clothing. As void creatures, they're constantly awake, but will run in circles during daytime until they vanish if they cannot find any players to attack, similar to what Boarmen used to do in versions before 0.54.1.

Like normal Boarman Captains, Void Boarman Captains will always wield a weapon, which can be a Wooden Weapon, a Wooden Weapon + Wooden Shield, or a Stone Sword. This means that they'll have differing attack strengths, and quite a few will become annoying if they are holding shields. However, shielded Void Boarman Captains will get stunned for three seconds if their shields get shattered, which is a lot of time to deal as much damage as possible.

After defeating a Void Boarman Captain, they can drop any of these items:

• Giant Scaly Fruit Slices, which can be eaten to restore health or used as an ingredient to cook more foods;
• Universal Activation Stones, capable of enchanting any weapon, piece of armor, or tool;
• or Void Crystal Blocks, used for mutating certain animals and plants into their void counterparts, preventing void animals from turning into their normal forms, and for crafting a Void Crystal Block.
