Tool mode

Introduction: What is tool mode

Tool mode is an instrument for map creators to create maps easily. The objects that the tool mode can edit are regions, locations and creatures.

How to use tool mode

1.Create a developer mode game.



2.Open the tool mode

  • PC: Click the “tool mode” button on the screen, or press “F3” on the keyboard.
  • Mobile: Press the “tool mode” button on the screen.


Function of the tool mode

The objects that the tool mode can edit are region, location and creature.

Region

1.Press/Click the button with the same photo as shown in the following image.

2.Place the starting point.

3.Place the end point.

4.A rectangular cuboid (or cube) region will be created. Both the maximum height and width of the region is 64. However, the height of the region is not limited.

Location

1.Press/Click the button with the same photo as shown in the following image.

2.Place the location point.

3.The location will be created and the size of the location must be at least 1x1x1.

Creature

1.Press/Click the button with the same photo as shown in the following image.

2.Press/Click the “+ new” button.

3.Select the creature which you want to choose.

4.Place the creature.

5.The creature will be created when you switch the mode to play mode.


Object library

In the object library, we can create and edit the object, including region, location and creature.

Press/Click the button with the same photo as shown in the following image to open the object library.

We can create and select objects here.

Also, we can delete and rename the object, and also relocate the region, by pressing/clicking the button with a gear.




Simple example about some of the usage of tool mode

In this example, we will showcase how to make a teleportation door by using trigger and tool mode.

1.Create a region and location similar to the following image.

2.To make work easier, rename the region and location to “door” and “stage” respectively.




3.Open the page to edit the trigger, and edit the trigger as shown in the following image.







4.Congratulations! You complete a simple teleport door! Switch the mode to play mode to see whenever the trigger can operate successfully or not. If not, check the object in both the tool mode and the trigger to make sure that everything is the as same as in the guide.
