==== Description ====
The Raptor is one of the rarest animals in the game, spawning only in redwood jungles with a low spawn rate. As one of the main threats in this biome (excluding monsters), they can appear during the day. They possess higher stats than most common creatures and can easily defeat a player with high attack and speed. The Raptor used to be able to breed after being tamed, before version 0.54.1, using [[survival_mode:crop:yummy_roast_dodo|Yummy Roast Dodo]] {{:items:yummy_roast_dodo.png?nolink&20|}}, but now only the wild ones can be bred using that same item, and the tamed ones can only be fed with [[survival_mode:crop:roast_dodo_family_bucket|Roast Dodo Family Bucket]] {{:items:roast_dodo_family_bucket.png?nolink&20|}}.
==== Appearance ====
The Raptor is a medium-sized animal with orange skin and blue stripes along its back. On its head is a shark-fin-like crest that is blue with orange dots. The Raptor also has a large pair of legs and tiny arms, both of which have large claws. It has a short sail that runs from near the end of its back to the tip of its tail. The Raptor's face features derpy eyes on the sides of its head, and its long mouth is filled with unevenly spaced, gapped teeth.
==== Behavior ====
A wild Raptor will attack any chicken or player on sight, making it impossible to tame it normally when in survival mode . You can only tame them without any special conditions in creative or dev mode. To tame a wild Raptor , a player can consider using any of the [[survival_mode:items:color_firework_(general)|color fireworks]] {{:items:color_firework.gif?20|}}, as they will make any creature hit by it enter a state of fear, causing them to run around and not attack; or you can use an alternative method if [[survival_mode:items:color_firework_(general)|color fireworks]] {{:items:color_firework.gif?20|}} are unavailable , which is to // beat // the Raptor until it has only half of its HP left . This will cause the same fear effect that the [[survival_mode:items:color_firework_(general)|color fireworks]] {{:items:color_firework.gif?20|}} induce, but this time it will last until the Raptor is no longer rendered.

Breeding animals in the current version is pretty much the same for every creature that can be bred in terms of the process ; the only difference in breeding a creature from another is the food required. A wild Raptor can be bred using a [[survival_mode:crop:meat_feed|Meat Feed]] {{:items:meat_feed.png?nolink&20|}}, as [[survival_mode:crop:yummy_roast_dodo| Yummy Roast Dodo ]] {{:items:yummy_roast_dodo.png?nolink&20|}} is no longer valid breeding food. And as the changelog states , the tamed Raptor can no longer breed.

The Raptor is the second fastest survival mount in the entire game, only slower than [[survival_mode:creatures:ostrich|Ostrich]] {{:survival_mode:creatures:ostrich1.png?20|}} . Other than that, you cannot use it for much else that is useful. You might consider using them to farm [[survival_mode:sundry:soft_leather|Soft Leather]] {{items:soft_leather.png?nolink&20|}}, but they are far less efficient than just using [[survival_mode:creatures:wowomon| Wowomon ]] {{items:wowomon.png?nolink&16|}}.
