==== Description ====
**Yaks** are animals that roam the snowy biomes of Miras, drawing inspiration from their real-world counterparts found in the western regions of China. These creatures inhabit mountainous and snowy terrains, becoming an integral part of the challenging environments players may encounter in those.

Yaks, by nature, are not docile beings. They stand ready to defend themselves when attacked, making them formidable rivals for players who dare to strike them. Traveling into mountainous areas populated by yaks demands caution, as they are able to charge and knock back players off the area. When two yaks collide, they engage in a continuous collision until their horns fall off.

Yaks are able to be fed with {{items:withered_shrub.png?nolink&24}} [[survival_mode:crop:withered_shrub|Withered Shrubs]], which will make them initiate their milk production stage. During this stage, players can use a {{items:small_glass_bottle.png?nolink&24}} [[survival_mode:sundry:small_glass_bottle|Small Glass Bottle]] to collect up to three bottles of fresh milk. The milk production stage ends either after three bottles are obtained or after one and a half minutes have passed since it began. Following this, players must wait for one minute before they can feed the yak again. Feeding {{items:grass_feed.png?nolink&24}} [[survival_mode:crop:grass_feed|Grass Feeds]] to two adult yaks near a {{items:haystack.png?nolink&24}} [[survival_mode:crop:haystack|Haystack]] initiates the breeding process, resulting in the birth of a baby yak. Feeding {{items:grass_feed.png?nolink&24}} [[survival_mode:crop:grass_feed|Grass Feeds]] to a baby yak twice will make it grow up into an adult yak.

Players can mount yaks without the need for taming. However, this comes with a caveat – riders lack control over the yak's movement and the yak will begin running in all directions, which could result in the yak throwing off the players riding it.

Defeating a yak will give various drops, which include {{items:yak_meat.png?nolink&32}} [[survival_mode:crop:yak_meat|Yak Meat]], {{items:soft_leather.png?nolink&32}} [[survival_mode:sundry:soft_leather|Soft Leather]], and yak horns.
